The George Mason University, Police Department invites applications for the position of Housing Locksmith. The Police Department provides professional law enforcement services to a diverse university population of over 35,000 students, plus faculty and staff. Performs installs, maintenance, repairs of locks and keys while concurrently keeping up with related records in the database system;
Services both electronic and mechanical locks for all housing buildings;
Manages and maintains records for the dissemination of physical keys;
Will operate as directed within the university's housing system comprised of over 40 residential facilities throughout all GMU campuses;
Serves on an On-Call basis during weekends and evenings as necessary.
High school education and related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
As part of the interview process, all interviewed candidates will be subject to a polygraph examination;
Successful completion of a polygraph;
Must pass a thorough background check;
No felony convictions or convictions of misdemeanors involving crimes of moral turpitude or gross misconduct;
Must currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/. The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver's licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review.
Ability to learn quickly and retain information;
Basic understanding and knowledge of techniques, tools, equipment and safety precautions;
Ability to operate motor vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery;
Ability to be subjected to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions;
Comfortable with climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crunching, crawling, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions;
Ability to manage and maintain an electronic database;
Experience with Microsoft Office, MPulse Software System, RS2, Simple K Software System.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
