The Locksmith incumbent with Washington State University's Facilities Operations maintains, repairs, installs and services locking devises and door and window hardware for campus buildings (except student housing and dining services). Responsibilities of position include but are not limited to the following: Maintain, repair, install and service all types of locking devices (Schlage, Yale, Falcon, Kaba Peaks) vehicle locks, vaults and safe security equipment; inspect key and locking systems for all buildings other than student housing and dining services on campus; repair malfunctioning locks and rekey locks for improved security when required; install computerized locking systems where required; develop master key system for every building on campus except student housing and dining services and maintain the same; enter pertinent data on computerized program for quick reference; prepare labor estimates for proposed lock device installation, repair revise, and recommend appropriate hardware types; provide oversight of activities of other craftsmen working on security systems from time to time; respond to student housing and dining facility requirements as required in the absence of assigned locksmith; and maintain familiarity with medico security system.
Three years' full-time work experience as a locksmith helper/trainee OR journey level standing as a locksmith. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements.
Valid Driver's License.
Experience with door hardware, locks, master key systems, and security systems.
Four years training and one year additional experience in journey level locksmith trade.
