SENIOR SUPERVISOR, CARPENTRY SERVICES, Facilities-Repair and Maintenance (R&M), to provide leadership and ongoing supervision of all structural services and carpentry services teams. R&M is responsible 150 buildings within the campus portfolio consisting of approximately 13m GSF. Will manage assigned team(s) and provide overall direction, vision, policies and procedures, formulation and implementation, and staff development to ensure technical quality, high customer satisfaction and value with the MIT community. Structural and carpentry services include carpentry, roofing, glazing, painting, and locksmiths.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a high school diploma or its equivalent; a contractor's license; at least five years' experience in building operations; supervisory experience in a repair and maintenance setting with oversight over structural and carpentry fields; leadership skills in the areas of staff development, short- and long-term planning, project management, and customer satisfaction; experience with framing, rough carpentry, finish and millwork, and painting; excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills; experience with computer systems, CMMS programs, Excel, MS-Word, e-mail, and the internet; and familiarity with OSHA standards. Must be able to troubleshoot and determine building issues and recommend necessary changes; work from blueprints, shop drawings, and sketches; prepare drawings and sketches; interact with other trade groups and coordinate building repairs; and demonstrate proficiency in scheduling and planning work. Working Conditions: ascending/descending stairs; traversing the campus; moving about the jobsite and machinery to access equipment; remaining stationary for extended periods; and working from ladders, scaffolds, and other above-ground locations such as roofs. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required by the specific assignment. Environment contains dust, odors, and fumes, high levels of noise, and temperature extremes. Work will be performed near steam and moving machinery and in tight areas and confined spaces such as manholes and crawl spaces, and with and around chemicals and solvents. Some work is performed in research labs and animal facilities and outdoors in inclement weather.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. Must also be available for off-hours emergencies and standby supervisory coverage on a rotating basis on weekends and holidays.
