The FM Technician Building Trades performs under the direction of the Renovations supervisor.
Duties include:
1. Provide career tracks including but not limited to cabinetmaking, carpentry, locksmith, masonry, painting, plastering, and roofing. Will perform a variety of tasks ranging from routine and unskilled, to highly skilled. 2. Apply methods and general procedures of applicable trades/maintenance techniques and develop skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment appropriate to trade. 3. Tasks include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components requiring the application of skills in planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, communication, and knowledge of and adherence to safety policies and regulations. 4. Position may serve as lead technician and/or crew leader, directing the work of others.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
1. Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. 2. Ability to follow applicable building codes. 3. Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension). 4. Effective skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication, however, excellent communication skills are preferred. 5. Computer literate. 6. Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs. 7. Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures. 8. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork with co-workers, visitors, building occupants, and the entire campus community. 9. Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
