Job Summary: | This position is assigned to the Physical Plant Stores operation. The Stores operation covers six separate shops: Electrical, Plumbing, Carpenter, Machine, Steamfitter, Locksmith. There is a corresponding storeroom for each shop. The aggregate inventory value is over two-and-a-half million dollars. The number of purchase orders generated by the operation exceeds ten thousand per year. Stores' responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
1. Receiving, managing, and distributing project-specific and inventoried materials. 2. Maintaining inventory database and preparing reports using the automated inventory system. 3. Providing product information, guidance, and training.

Responsibilities: | Assesses stock supply and submits orders, verifies shipment receipt, and maintains shipping, receiving, and inventory records to ensure unit has appropriate inventory. - 20% Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders following established vendor procurement procedures
- 40% Inspects and inventories received items and processes notifications to appropriate entities
- 10% Shelves inventory and maintains organization
- 20% Generates inventory reports to account for available stock and usage
- 10% Provides product information, guidance, and training to customers and coworkers

Qualifications: | Experience with a wide range of software programs and databases including the Microsoft Office suite and emphasis on Excel or spreadsheet software.
1. Knowledge of inventory control best practices. 2. Knowledge of inventory management theory terminology and formulas, including economic order quantity formulas. 3. Knowledge of laws, regulations, and standard procedures pertaining to State and UW-Madison purchasing and receiving operations. 4. Knowledge of Physical Plant's administrative and materials management policies and procedures. 5. Knowledge of computerized management information systems, data processing equipment, electronic mail, and software techniques and procedures. 6. Knowledge of electrical-, plumbing-, hardware-, maintenance-, industrial-, and construction-related products and services. 7. Knowledge of separation of duties theory. 8. Ability to practice active listening in working with team members and interpreting customer requests. 9. Ability to exercise a strong sense of priority, time management, and follow through. 10. Ability to be creative, flexible, self-motivated, and quality oriented. 11. Ability to operate a forklift. 12. Ability to perform work in a safe manner and promote safety consciousness for the organization. 13. Ability to accept responsibility and work effectively on own initiative. 14. Ability to maintain accurate and accountable records and documentation of assigned activities. 15.
