Access Control TechnicianAbout the OpportunityPosition Summary:Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain the electronic card access system (Cbord). Survey existing Cbord infrastructure to identify what is necessary for new lock installations and door hardware. Work with Locksmiths to install new door hardware as necessary. Install new card access panels and controllers including low-voltage wiring from panels to doors/controllers. Communicate with HuskeyCard Services to set up new locations in CSGold system, followed by linking and commission new locations. Support access control installation on both operational and Capital Project requests. This position requires effective communication, prioritization and organization skills.
Service the access controls system in all academic buildings and dormitories, including all interior and exterior locations. The position will also be responsible to work on Von Duprin exit hardware, ADA operators/buttons and card readers. This position is responsible for all electronic locks and hardware on the Boston ands Suburban campuses. Maintain records of lock shop related work requests
The position will require working in a non-locksmith capacity when necessary, as well as, but not limited to responding to overtime and emergency call-ins as required or directed to ensure proper plant operations. Perform other related work as required.
Qualifications:Five years of experience with commercial and institutional locking systems required. A Class 'D' electrical license is required. Experience with the installation, maintenance, diagnostics and repair of mechanical electronic locking systems, including Cbord systems. High mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose problems and make appropriate repairs.. Must be able to lift up to a minimum of 50 lbs. and transport piping and equipment in excess of 200 lbs. with others. Must be able to push and pull heavy loads as required. Must be able to stoop and bend for long periods of time; work on hands and knees and other awkward positions for extended periods; routinely walk to and from various buildings carrying tools, equipment and other essentials to the job site. Must be able to work alone and climb multiple sets of stairs, work off ladders, staging, lifts, etc. Must have OSHA 10 safety certification. Ability to work with a broad spectrum of individuals required. Must be able to work overtime, as needed. Valid MA Driver's License required. This position is 40 hours a week. The Locksmith position is considered Essential Personnel
