UWMC Maintenance has an outstanding opportunity for a full time day shift MANAGER.
Position Purpose:
Lead and Manage a diverse group of various trade specialists to maintain and operate facility mechanical, electrical, electronic, and structural infrastructure, as well as fixed and portable direct patient care and support equipment, in a large, world-class, complex, 24/7 medical center.
Position Complexities:
Balancing the needs, responsibilities, and cross-trade coordination requirements of electricians, plumbers; HVAC technicians; fire alarm and sprinkler specialists; refrigeration technicians, biomedical engineers servicing all patient beds, patient lifts, stretchers, surgery tables, wheel chairs, and exam tables; carpenters; painters; machinery and maintenance mechanics; lighting technicians; nurse call and low voltage technicians; drafting specialists; locksmiths, and Facility Operations and Maintenance Specialists (FOMS).

Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervises full-time journey and lead workers in operation, installation, repair maintenance, and alteration of plant facilities and equipment. Provides oversight of system shutdowns. 20% Conducts shop meetings, meet with craft personnel concerning tasks and problems, and oversee shop safety. 5% Participates in committees overseeing safety and regulatory compliance. 5% Verifies mandatory and elective training are scheduled and documented for all direct reporting staff. 4% Reviews workload, prioritize and assign work to craft persons. Review work orders for completions. View job sites and make suggestions for completion of tasks. Maintain computerized maintenance management system programs for Preventative Maintenance scheduling, operations and projects. 20% Responds to client concerns dealing with operations, maintenance, and alterations projects. Maintains client relations and provide outstanding customer service. 10% Estimates job costs. Maintain strict budget oversight when approving material, parts, tools and equipment requests. Manage and review Service contracts to ensure proper performance. 4% Attends meetings, gather data, meet with consultants and contractors, and review blueprints and specifications for construction, remodel, and maintenance projects. Assist in interviewing and selecting consultants. Participates in the selection of complex infrastructure and building systems and equipment. 10% Schedules and reviews building system confidence testing to assure regulatory compliance. 4% Write departmental policies and procedures, including policy and procedures for operational functions and regulatory compliance. Review and respond to incident/accident/quality improvement and utility disruption reports. Manage and plan Utility shutdowns as needed for maintenance, improvements, and construction work. 8% Interviews and hire full and part time employees. Train employees. Conduct employee evaluations. Counsel and recommend disciplinary action. 5% Responds to off-hour emergencies. 5%
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Has the authority to hire and recommend dismissal of employees.
Responsible for annual evaluations, goal setting and managing performance of employees.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors' degree in Business or Engineering OR equivalent education/experience.
4-5 years' minimum experience in hospital facilities management.
