Supervises a staff of up to 5 personnel. Performs staff evaluations, makes principal recommendations on hiring, and participates in interviews and personnel selection. Approves bi-weekly payroll while ensuring accurate reporting of staff hours.
Plan, schedule and direct work to be performed to insure the effective utilization of staff, materials, and equipment for completion of projects on schedule. Survey, quote, and manage lock & security projects pertaining to overall campus needs.
Consult with & assist Project Managers, Designers, and Building Maintenance Supervisors regarding design standards, hardware specifications, and codes, including ADA, Life Safety, HIPPA and Fire Code compliance for new and existing construction.
Design, install and maintain Master-Key systems, including new construction and remodel projects. Keep accurate and up-to-date record of all keys and locks, maintain database of all keys issued.
Oversee preventive maintenance program to ensure that lockshop equipment is being tracked and maintained. Recommend equipment for replacement.
Install new locks (mechanical and electronic type) and door hardware as needed. This would include new construction, remodel projects, breakage, etc. Repair and adjust door mounted closers, hinges, doors, ADA operators, exit devices, and panic hardware.
Install and maintain electronic access control systems (industrial and commercial security hardware). Routine programming of online/offline and non-networked electronic locks.
Rekey locks for security purposes, respond to lost key incidents, change safe combinations. Maintain tools, equipment and lockshop inventory, procure equipment and materials for maintenance and new construction alike.
Attend seminars pertaining to Locksmith operations
Participate in the Facilities Operations On-Call program. Required to carry cell phone 24/7 for on-call duty to respond to after hour lock or security related issues
Responsible use of purchase card for obtaining supplies needed for the lockshop or projects, to include maintaining accurateexpense records and timely submission of receipts to the Accounts Payable Coordinator. Abide by policies and procedures.
Associate degree, or vocational or technical school degree
10 hour OSHA certification is preferred.
Must have computer experience.
Must have a valid Florida driver’s license or ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
Must maintain good driving record as determined by Florida Tech guidelines.
Minimum 5–8 years of experience required in area of expertise

Florida Institute of Technology is currently searching for a Locksmith Supervisor for Facilities Operations Department. This is a full-time position.
This position will be responsible for overseeing lockshop operations, which is a division of the Building Maintenance department on campus. Responsibilities shall include supervision of all locksmith personnel and overseeing the primary lockshop functions such as providing safe, functional and secure doors, locks and hardware campus-wide. Will perform skilled locksmith work in the repair, alteration, installation, and keying of locks on all buildings, equipment, lockers. Will resolve operational and safety concerns. Maintain campus-wide keying system. Purchase, maintain, install, and service electronic card access, access devices, and systems. Maintain a preventative maintenance program and assisting other skilled trades. This position is considered essential and may be required to remain on campus for storm and emergency related duty. This is a salaried position. Normal working hours are Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30pm.
