The Lockshop Assistant position in Facilities and Property Management (FPM) provides support and assists journey-level Institutional Locksmith’s with lockshop related services at Portland State University.
Responsibilities include programming electronic locks, cleaning the shop, inventory of hardware, assisting Institutional Locksmith’s in repair, installation, and maintenance tasks.
This Lockshop Assistant will be responsible for entering accurate records of work performed into FPM’s computerized maintenance management database. The incumbent will assist with key audits.
FPM is pleased to serve all members of the Portland State University (PSU) community. FPM takes a tremendous amount of pride in providing an appealing campus environment. The facilities and grounds at PSU consist of over 5 million square feet of facilities and approximately 50 acres of grounds.
1 year of experience related to the position including working with hand tools.
Ability to use a computer to input and retrieve information from the department database system.
Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
Successful completion of a background check.
Knowledge of proper and safe use of chemicals and lubricants used in the trade.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, charts, and technical instructions.
Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and to present facts clearly, both orally and in writing.
Proven ability to perform work in a professional, customer focused manner.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with the diverse campus community and staff.
Experience in metal fabrication.
Experience in carpentry.
Experience in a higher education environment.
