Under limited supervision, performs installation, maintenance, repair, and alteration of locks, key systems, and door hardware for campus buildings and structures. Maintains the highest level of security, access and safety on campus in accordance with building codes and standard security procedures. Assist with scheduling and training of other personnel that perform lock and access control functions. Assists and performs carpentry functions on an as needed basis.
Knowledge of locks and locking mechanisms. Knowledge of carpentry related skills. Ability to read and write. Valid Virginia driver’s license.
Prefer previous experience with locks and building systems in a multi-building complex environment. Experience in a higher education setting. Two years or greater work related experience. Experience with electronic locking and access control systems and hardware. Locksmith certifications or formal training that is documented
