Job Description Summary Knowledge and skills to complete all tasks related to servicing and installing all Division Eight door hardware. Possess working knowledge of small format master keying, and documentation with respect to master keying industry standards and guidelines. Installation and repair of lock sets of various types. Installation and repairs of exit devices and related door hardware as per manufacture specifications. Preferable experience with doors and frames, but not contingent to position. Position must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair problems with all mechanical and electromechanical hardware and devices. The ability to make keys via the use of duplicating, key punches and/or code machines. Will perform and complete special assignments in a timely manner as assigned by Supervisor. Must have good communication skills. Mandatory on-call service rotation will be required to provide after-hours emergency service when paged.
Responsibilities Position requires Journey level trade knowledge and must have the aptitude and ability to recognize a problem, analyze the situation, troubleshoot solutions, notify the correct people and evaluate the issue. When dealing with problems or issues on jobs and projects, it is important the position applies journey level trade knowledge to discover the most effective and efficient course of action. Will be responsible for continuing education and license renewal requirements. Position requires interacting with University project managers, faculty and staff on projects and renovations. Monitor and track all orders for timely completion. Handle project management tasks and have a working knowledge of processes and time lines. Will communicate with customer, scope of work needed and maintain status of work progress.
Qualifications Prefer 3+ of year's comprehensive locksmith and/or door experience in the above industry disciplines. High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds frequently, with or without reasonable accommodations. Current locksmith license. Valid driver's license. - Valid NC DL within 60 days of hire. Must be maintained.
Preferred Experience, Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office products, i.e., Word, Excel. Experience in AiM work order system is preferable, but not contingent for position. Prefer Institutional Locksmith Association and/or Associated Institutional Locksmith Association membership. Certified Journey Level Certification and/or Fire Door Inspector Certification, but not contingent for position.
