Completes access hardware preventative maintenance, responds to emergencies, performs scheduled installs, and provides key checkout support, card access assistance, CCTV assistance, security alarm assistance, and other miscellaneous locksmith-related tasks for the Access Control / Key & Hardware Shop.
Assumes rotational on-call duty and supports BSL2 and BSL3 labs.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Must understand the theory and have a working knowledge and understanding of locksmith principles. Ability to perform locksmith-related tasks at the Advanced level. Knowledge of current access technology. Ability to locate and correct door and hardware problems. Ability to read and comprehend mechanical, electrical and building blue prints and/or drawings. Requires effective communication skills in order to determine for customers and other Facilities Services trades personnel, their precise concerns, and implement resolutions.
Professional locksmith training or five (5) years of institutional or commercial locksmith experience.
