Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Director, the Supervisor is responsible for delivering quality and reliable trade services by organizing the work of the Carpentry and Locksmith shops. Defines specific programs necessary to maintain facilities in the most efficient and effective manner. Work closely with the Director to realize departmental objectives. Manages workload across the unit to assure a timely and quality response to requests for service. Determines the most effective manner to allocate resources during periods of peak demand. Establishes performance standards to meet the service expectations of a broad client base and productivity measures to identify and track progress and customer satisfaction. Continually assesses performance through established standards and apply corrective measures as required. Develops and maintains effective communications with clients. Coordinates development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs. Analyzes feedback from staff and clients and adjusts programs, schedules, and labor requirements accordingly. Supports the Director and works closely with other supervisors and managers across Facilities to insure a well-coordinated effort to maximize the provision of complementary services. Provides input into the development of the University's capital planning process recommending projects based on specific building knowledge. Supports safety programs for the continual maintenance of a safe work place and a safety conscious staff. Oversees parts and custodial materials inventories to ensure adequate stocking levels. Hires, trains, evaluates, and terminates staff as required. Interprets the collective bargaining agreement and resolves issues that may arise. Involved with disciplinary actions as required.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required. A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in operations and maintenance or related field required. Experience must include at least two years in a supervisory capacity. Excellent communication skills and computer literacy required.
