Technician, Locksmith Stevenson University Under general supervision, performs a broad range of skills including, but not limited to, maintaining/modifying/installing and repairing all locksmith/key inquiries assigned to the Facilities Lock Shop. Perform a broad range of skilled and semi-skilled tasks within the Facilities Department during down time. Assist in emergency services in addition to routine work as directed. This position is considered essential personnel. Department: Facility Services: Owings Mills Education/Experience: High school diploma plus five years of work related experience in the Locksmith/Maintenance field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a University setting preferred. Ability to work 24/7 to respond to emergencies as the position requires. Valid drivers license and good driving record; must be insurable. Knowledge/Skills/Ability: Journeyman level knowledge of lock and key systems, maintenance and installation.Knowledge of Best/Arrow and IC Core hardware as well as installation and maintenance repairs for Best, Arrow, Russwin, Schlage, and Kwikset.Working knowledge and usage of hand and power tools associated within the Locksmith/Maintenance field.Effective verbal communication skills.Ability to read, understand work orders and abide by all safety policies and procedures.Ability to work any assigned shift/work schedule.Ability to travel between campuses,Ability to meet Essential Personnel duties. Physical Requirements: Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Talking, hearing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, keyboarding, and grasping. Visual acuity to perform an activity such as operations of machines; using measurement devices; and/or visual inspections of small parts or devices. Subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. Subject to hazards, noise, extreme cold and oils. Essential Functions: Responsible for re-keying buildings on all campuses and off-site buildings used by the University. Cut keys for various key systems including Best, Arrow, Russwin, Schlage, and Kwikset.Responsible for maintaining computer file systems using keystone database.Responsible for key audits which require meeting with faculty/staff and using good customer service skillsMaintain email and online work order systems for issuing keys and repairing locksCombine cores on the Best and Arrow keys systemCreate new keying charges for the Best keys system for all new construction and renovations.Maintains the highest level of employee/guest relations.Assist in emergency situations as needed.In the event that there is downtime, you will be reassigned to other duties within the Facilities Department.
